For my first gallery show of 2026, I was asked to donate a 1-color image to be reproduced as a series of limited edition screen prints. The exhibit, titled VOLUME, Screen Prints with Purpose, opened March 7 at Blue Tile Gallery in Englewood during Mo'Print, Colorado's biennial month of printmaking, to amplify social issues artists care about and raise money for 40 Colorado nonprofits. Each artist chose a nonprofit that reflects their interests and aligns with the shows theme.
During the event the prints were “purchased” by scanning a QR code and donating a minimum of $25 directly to the nonprofits websites. A donor match was announced so all donations were doubled! At the end of the opening weekend, $34,125 was raised! The nonprofit I chose was a mental health service provider in Colorado called Queer Asterisk.
Authentic expression is a core tenant of my queer identity. For many people, myself included, that begins with transformative mental health services. Queer Asterisk provides a thousand queer and trans-affirming counseling sessions every month to clients of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay.
As an artist working with socially engaged issues, this direct action showcases the power of community and how powerful our collaborative efforts can be. Get a peek into the process with my video below ⬇️
