9 Designs that Inspired My Gallery Show | Research for Visual Art

I take you through 9 items, from texts to sewing patterns, that inspired my very first gallery solo show.

This video walks through some of the research that informed the various sculptures, drawings, and writing that accompanied my newest body of artwork.

About the solo show and my practice 👇

'Ceremonials' is the debut solo show of artist Blake Ballard (he/him). Sharing a new body of work, this show asks the viewers to define what success looks like in an era of pageantry and shifting social climates. With ribbon rosettes, altered trophies, and large-scale sculpture, Ballard creates an 'award show for the end of the world' calling attention to the nefarious actors of our current zeitgeist and critiquing the values we prioritize.
